Ut Prosim, “So That I Might Serve” is at the heart of every interaction Chris has with his clients and his community. With over two decades of financial advising experience, Chris has helped the local community fulfill their financial dreams while guiding families through all of life’s transitions

A Depth of Experience

Chris is a lifelong resident of Chesapeake, VA, and the proud son of two US Navy veterans. After earning the rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 6 and graduating with honors from Great Bridge High School, he attended Virginia Tech and earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He began his professional career working as a civilian contractor focused heavily on budget planning, financial analysis, and long-term spending for the U.S. Navy’s Atlantic and Pacific Fleets.

It was during that time that he became a client of a local financial planning firm. It was apparent to his advisor, and the firm’s principles, that he had a knack for detailed analysis as well as the ability to boil down economic strategies into layman’s terms. He was thus recruited by that firm to transition into the world of personal finance. He made the leap because he saw a lot of similarities between what he was doing for the US Navy and the planning that was being done for him and his family.  More importantly, he also had a desire to help people on a more personal level.

Since then, trust and service have been the foundation of Chris’s approach to this industry. For nearly two decades, Chris has forged a reputation for asking the right questions, listening to his clients, and then taking time to craft sound, conservative, financial strategies. His practice areas focus most on “Life Transitions.” He is sought out to craft plans when his clients go through joyous times like marriage, the birth of a child or grandchild, attending college, and retirement as well as during times of sadness such as the death of a family member, a divorce, or if his clients fall on hard times. In addition to college, retirement, and estate planning, Chris has helped many special needs families to plan their unique financial futures.

Chris is also a proud Hokie and consistently seeks to embody Virginia Tech’s motto of Ut Prosim or “That I May Serve” both in his work and in his personal life. He is very dedicated to giving back to the organizations that made him into who he is today. He has served as Treasurer, Pack Committee Chair, Den Leader and Cub Master for Cub Scout Pack 6 as well as coached recreational league football in Chesapeake. For the last 17 years, he has also served as the President of the Tidewater Chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. There he promotes service and scholarship in the cities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach. In addition to the Boy Scouts, City of Chesapeake Parks and Rec, and Virginia Tech, Chris also spends his time supporting the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, American Cancer Society, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, Salvation Army, and the special needs community of Vanguard Landing.

Chris is married to Chelsea Jennings and the proud father of Emmalina and William. He currently holds his Life and Health Insurance license as well as Series 7 and Series 66 Securities registration in multiple states.
